Baw Baw is a mountain summit on the Baw-Baw Plateau of the Great Dividing Range, located in Victoria, Australia. The name is from the Woiwurrung language spoken by Eastern Kulin people. It is of uncertain meaning, but possibly signifies, echo, or ghost. Mount Baw Baw is ideal for novice skiers and snowboarders, and has nice beginner terrain to progress to the intermediate level. The toboggan park has dedicated snowmaking and a magic carpet so the kids can save energy for going down the hill, but as you'd expect, you have to pay to use the slope. Mt Baw Baw is Melbourne's closest ski resort and offers a fun, safe, non-threatening snow escape. Heard enough? Resort Entry fee of $60 per vehicle applies if coming by car, $19 if coming by bus. Chains are required Chain Hire & Fitting Service is available at the entry to Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort during the declared snow season however we advise hiring in advance. The road to the resort is 51.2 km (31.81 miles) long starting at Piedmont. It's a beautiful drive through the National Park then up narrow and windy roads to Mt Baw Baw. The tourist drive is very picturesque but curvy. I mount my piece much like a wall with rectangles of jatoba and ash wood with epoxy resin to glue everything together. I use a three part mold made by myself in order to save resin and to obtain an already round part ready for the wood lathe. A carnauba wax-based finish is applied to protect and give a slight shine.
